Ayodhya/Lucknow: On the auspicious first day of Chaitra Navratri, President Droupadi Murmu performed the consecration of the sacred Shri Ram Yantra at the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya. The ceremony, conducted amid Vedic chants and rituals, marked a spiritually significant moment in the temple’s ongoing religious traditions.
The President offered prayers to Ram Lalla and performed the aarti, expressing deep reverence at the beginning of the Hindu New Year. She was accompanied by Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who also participated in the rituals and offered prayers in accordance with traditional customs.
The Shri Ram Yantra, installed on the second floor of the temple, is rooted in Vedic mathematics and sacred geometry. Considered a divine symbol, it is believed to attract positive energy and represent the abode of deities. The Yantra had been ceremonially sent to Ayodhya two years ago by Jagadguru Shankaracharya Vijayendra Saraswati. A nine-day Vedic ritual had already been underway, conducted by scholars and priests from South India, Kashi, and Ayodhya.
Several prominent figures, including spiritual leader Mata Amritanandamayi and members of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, were present during the ceremony.
President Murmu received a grand ceremonial welcome upon her arrival in Ayodhya. At the Maharishi Valmiki International Airport, she was greeted by the Governor and Chief Minister with floral bouquets. Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak were also in attendance. In a symbolic gesture, Ayodhya Mayor Mahant Girish Pati Tripathi presented the President with the “Key to the City,” a mark of highest civic honor.

The route from the airport to the temple was transformed into a vibrant cultural corridor. Around 20 stages were set up, where nearly 250 artists performed devotional songs, Ramayana-themed acts, and traditional folk dances from Awadhi and Bhojpuri cultures. The streets echoed with chants, drumbeats, conch sounds, and hymns, reflecting Ayodhya’s rich spiritual heritage.
Residents lined the roads, showering फूल petals and chanting slogans in welcome. The city was adorned with decorations, and the atmosphere was filled with devotion, enthusiasm, and festive fervor.
President Murmu’s visit—her second to Ayodhya—blended tradition, faith, and cultural pride, turning the holy city into a grand spectacle of celebration and spirituality.
